【About this Video: Tao Yuanming's "The Peach Blossom Spring"】
This video is inspired by the timeless masterpiece, "The Peach Blossom Spring," by Tao Yuanming. Follow in the fisherman's footsteps as he discovers a secluded utopia within a forest of falling blossoms. Here, there are no worldly troubles, only crisscrossing paths and the sounds of roosters and dogs. People live in peace, unaware of the passing dynasties, content in their simple lives. This journey is a quest to find the tranquil paradise that lies within your own heart.
Full Poem:
In the Taiyuan era of the Jin dynasty, a fisherman from Wuling went out in his boat. He was following the stream, and lost track of how far he had gone. Suddenly, he came upon a forest of blossoming peach trees. They lined the banks for several hundred paces, with no other trees among them. The fragrant grass was fresh and beautiful, and the fallen petals drifted and danced. The fisherman was greatly amazed. He went on, hoping to reach the end of the forest.
The forest ended where the stream began. A mountain rose up, with a small opening. It seemed to be glowing inside, so he left his boat and went in through the opening. It was very narrow at first, just wide enough for a person to pass. After walking a few dozen paces, it suddenly opened up into a vast, bright plain. The houses were neat and orderly, with fertile fields, beautiful ponds, and groves of mulberry and bamboo. The paths crisscrossed, and the sounds of roosters and dogs could be heard calling to each other. People were coming and going to work, and the clothes they wore were like those of outsiders. The elders with yellowing hair and the young with their hair in tufts all seemed happy and content.
When they saw the fisherman, they were greatly surprised. They asked him where he had come from, and he answered them in detail. Then they invited him to their homes, where they set out wine and killed a chicken for a meal. When the other villagers heard that there was such a person, they all came to inquire. They said that their ancestors, to escape the chaos of the Qin dynasty, had brought their wives and fellow villagers to this isolated place, and never left, thus becoming separated from the outside world. They asked what the current dynasty was, for they did not know of the Han, much less the Wei and Jin. The fisherman told them everything he knew, and they were all amazed. The other villagers also invited him to their homes, offering him wine and food. After a few days, he said his farewells and left. The people of the village told him: “It is not worth telling this to outsiders.”
Once outside, he found his boat and followed his path back, marking the way as he went. When he arrived at the commandery, he went to the governor and told him the story. The governor immediately sent men to follow him and find the markers, but they got lost and never found the way again. Liu Ziji of Nanyang, a high-minded scholar, heard of this. He was happy and planned to go, but he did not succeed and soon died of an illness. After that, no one ever went to seek the way again.

【Emotional Analysis】
"The Peach Blossom Spring" describes an isolated, serene, and harmonious ideal society. The poem's core emotion is a deep longing for a life of **peace, innocence, and carefree living**, which is a source of spiritual solace for people in the chaotic modern world. This journey is our gift to all who are seeking their own oasis of tranquility.
