Description
A mellow fusion of soul, jazz and funk with limited vocals, however this still remains a classic track for the band best known for their hit "Street Life" featuring Randy Crawford.
The Crusaders originally formed back in 1954, with pianist Joe Sample teaming up with high school friends tenor saxophonist Wilton Felder and drummer Stix Hooper to form'The Swingsters'. Within a short time, they were joined by trombonist Wayne Henderson, flutist Hubert Laws and bassist Henry Wilson and the group became 'The Modern Jazz Sextet'. The band would later move to Los Angeles in 1960 as a quintet with the bass spot constantly changing and would rename themselves as 'The Jazz Crusaders'.
By 1971, when all of the musicians were also busy with their own projects, it was decided to call the group simply 'The Crusaders' so it would not be restricted to only playing jazz.
"Keep That Same Old Feeling" was taken from the band's 1976 album 'Those Southern Knights' and has remained a firm favourite for many jazz funk connoisseurs.
The song has since been covered over the years by various artists including Side Effects and Willie Bobo.
