Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel is one of the most famous pieces of Baroque music. Composed around 1680, it is structured as a canon (a contrapuntal composition where parts imitate each other) accompanied by a ground bass (a repeating bass line).

Originally written for three violins and basso continuo, the piece is celebrated for its elegant simplicity and harmonic progression, which has inspired countless modern adaptations across genres. It is widely used in weddings and other ceremonial settings due to its timeless and serene qualities.
