Description
"Never Be The Same" became Christopher Cross's #1 Adult Contemporary for two weeks in December of 1980. "Sailing" hit #1 on the Hot100 that same year with "Say You'll Be Mine" which got to #20. He earned four Grammys for his first LP, Best New Artist, Best New Album, Record of the Year and Song Of the Year. Pretty impressive considering the amount of talent that got involved with Chris like Don Henley, Michael McDonald, JD Souther and Nicolette Larsen on the backing vocals and the best session musicians only Warner could provide.
"The song is about having a broken heart and that woman has had her heart broken a few times", just like Christopher had. He figures his audience is mostly women and they can relate to the lyrics and made the record popular.
His next single was from the "Arthur" soundtrack and it topped both the Hot100 for three weeks and the AC chart for four weeks!
