About the anime:
In Tokyo, disaffected high school student Light Yagami stumbles upon the "Death Note," a mysterious black notebook that grants its user the power to kill anyone whose name and face they know. As Light begins using the Death Note to rid the world of high-profile criminals, he attracts the attention of Ryuk, a shinigami (death god) who dropped the notebook into the human world out of boredom. The global media dubs this enigmatic killer "Kira," and his actions catch the eye of Interpol, which enlists the help of the brilliant but secretive detective L.L quickly deduces that Kira is in Japan and begins a tense cat-and-mouse game with Light, who vows to eliminate L to continue his mission unimpeded. As Light's plans grow more intricate, he encounters Misa Amane, a devoted fan of Kira who possesses a second Death Note and shinigami eyes, allowing her to see the names of people just by looking at them. Together, they devise schemes to outsmart L, leading to dramatic twists and turns.
The story escalates as Light's father, Soichiro Yagami, and a dedicated task force become deeply involved in the investigation. Light temporarily loses his memory of the Death Note to prove his innocence, only to regain it and continue his deadly game. The narrative reaches a climactic showdown with L, whose suspicions about Light intensify.Years later, with L out of the picture, Light faces new challenges from L's successors, Near and Mello, who bring fresh tactics and alliances to the battle against Kira. As the world teeters on the edge of chaos, the final confrontation reveals the true depths of Light's ambition and the ultimate cost of wielding the Death Note.
