R&B, contemporary jazz musician Gerald Albright “slam-dunked” us with his music in 2014...and he’s still “slamming it” with his newest album “G”. His previous album was off the charts and Gerald received a Grammy Nomination for it in 2014. He has most definitely stayed true to form by pushing the medal to the pedal on this album. You might say its Gerald’s way of “taking control”, which is the title of his first-released single…which is climbing up the smooth jazz chart. He’s giving us everything from a little funk in “Funkism”…to the smooth groove of “Boom Boom”…and to the mellow groove of “Read Your Mind”. Gerald also gets a little help from friends on the track “Lovely Day”, which features the robust soulful vocals of Singer Michael McDonald and throws in a little hip-hop jazz on the track “G and Doug E. Sophistically titled with the initial of his first name, this album is appropriately titled because the song tracks represent the sophistication of a very skillful saxophonist who has been in the music business for almost 30 years. His music discography is massive, having sold over a million albums in the U.S., alone, including his collaboration with other Artists on over 200 albums. Did you know that Gerald plays his own signature series model saxophone? The GA5-SB made by Cannonball Musical Instruments. Respected by his peers and music critics, they know they’re in the midst of a jazz legend when they see or hear the name Gerald Albright...and, as a Fan, I’m fortunate to have been introduced to his music.
