Gipsy Kings is a group of musicians from Arles and Montpellier singing in Spanish with an accent of Andalusia. Although group members were born in France, their parents were mostly Gitanos, Spanish Roma who fled Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s Chico Bouchikhi is of Moroccan origin and Algerian. They are known for the genre spread worldwide of Catalan rumba, pop music based around traditional flamenco music. The group was originally named Los Reyes.
