played on a tang dynasty instrument, Jiu Xiao Huan Pei. this instrument has been highly revered by many, including Li Xiangting who praised it to be the best amongst all the tang instruments he had ever played. It was auctioned off at a price of 3.41 million RMB (550K USD), and is now in private collection of mr He Zuo Ru whom remains very supportive, often lending out the instrument to top guqin players in public performances, particularly that of li xiang ting. there is another jiu xiao huan pei instrument from the same maker/era, currently kept in the beijing forbidden palace museum.
