1920s Berlin, after World War I,had huge gaps between rich and poor, full of violence and chaos.

Hedi lives in a poor neighborhood in Berlin and works as a saleswoman at the high-end department store KaDeWe. She falls in love with Fritzi, the daughter of the store’s owner.

Fritzi is a free-spirited and independent young woman who longs to participate in the company’s decision-making like her brother Harry. But in that era, gender discrimination was severe, and it was difficult for women to achieve financial independence.

When Fritzi first meets Hedi at KaDeWe, the two fall in love at first sight. However, the huge gap in wealth and the fact that lesbian relationships were not accepted at the time make their love full of hardship.
Just as they decide to be together no matter what, tragedy strikes: Hedi’s father, unable to bear the pressure of life, takes his own life, leaving Hedi and her disabled sister Mucke behind.

In that era, homosexuality was not accepted and was even considered illegal. While attending a lesbian gathering, they are arrested and sent to prison. Fritzi has no position, no money, and even causes Hedi to be imprisoned. Believing they have no future together, Fritzi decides to let go. Hedi is forced to marry Rüdiger.

An unhappy marriage only leads to pain. Shortly after giving birth, Hedi makes a shocking decision…

This TV series is set against the real historical backdrop of the German department store Kadewe, depicting its rise, glory, and business struggles. Adolf Jandorf and his son Harry were real historical figures, while his daughter Fritzi and Hedi are fictional characters.
