i've loved elvis and eddie cochran since the age of 5 and american classic rock n roll has always been my 'thang'!! - i love how recently the younger generation are digging and rediscovering elvis now - i can tell that from these reaction vids - it's great so after watching your reaction vid to elvis 'ready teddy' on the ed sullivan show from sept 1956 suzi made a great point about the musicians playing their part and getting into the whole theatre of elvis's songs - basically the rest of the band are all in the same dress - tuxedos and bow ties - while their subject is in drape jackets and loose slacks singing about his drama between him and his girl - whether it's a love song or a cracking rock n roll number like ready teddy - and which the band are all playing to that drama whether exciting or love sick - and he's singing that drama to his ridiculously excited audience - it's his story - it's fabulous stuff - pure theatre it was just a few months before he had the jordinaires as a vocal backup - so its just him, scotty, bill and dj fontana - he's playing blue suede shoes on the first of the milton berle shows on april 3rd 1956 (his 7th television appearance - after the 6 dorsey brothers stage shows in jan- march of that year) toward the end of the song the bass player bill black rides his double bass and slaps it (which he always did in live shows before he was on tv - like bill haley type big bands did at that time) - after this show however, colonel parker had a contract drawn up saying that his musicians weren't allowed to react like that and take away from his stars spotlight - therefore this is the last time bill black 'rode that bass' - godamn it!! - and you won't see a tv appearance where this type of 'outrageous' rock n roll behaviour happened again!! - interesting hey love you guys i wish you two all the best with your vids - you're a great couple and i'm really looking forward to you reacting to this one in your own time
