Brazilian composer Ernanie Aguiar sets the Latin translation of the final psalm from the Hebrew Psalter in riveting percussive fashion, befitting of the text. While the psalmist uses metonymy as a device to encourage the employing of all musical instruments in the praise of Yahweh, let us not miss the larger application of engaging all our musical materials in the celebration of life itself!

Laudáte Dóminum in sánctis éjus:
Laudáte éum in firmaménto virtútis éjus
Laudáte éum in virtútibus éjus:
Laudáte éum seccúndum multitúdinem magnitúdinis éjus.
Laudáte éum in sóno túbae.
Laudáte éum in psatério et cíthara.
Laudáte éum in týmpano et chóro.
Laudáte éum in chórdis et orgáno.
