Secret Garden brought Norway their second Eurovision victory in Dublin with "Nocturne," an enchanting largely instrumental piece featuring Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry and Norwegian composer Rolf LΓΈvland.
The unique performance, which included only 24 words of lyrics, marked the first time an instrumental-focused song had won the contest. For LΓΈvland, this was his second Eurovision victory as a composer, having previously won in 1985 with Bobbysocks!
The song won with 148 points and ended Ireland's historic run of three consecutive victories - though fittingly, violinist Fionnuala Sherry was herself Irish.
