A few weeks ago, I did an analysis of an older The Strokes song. That video is a huge insight into creating different types of distortion in a healthy way, inspired by Julian Casablancas.
I got several comments to this effect after releasing that video: "Man... You should check out the recent stuff they've put out". So... I did. This video is me, for the first time, listening to, reacting and analyzing "Selfless" off of The New Abnormal Album.
What an INCREDIBLE transformation. He has free access to his head and mixed resonances, he's learned how to place his voice in multiple different ways for neat diversity, dynamics and interest.
