DOG EAT DOG... The Story of a Soundcheck SCAT...

Legend has it, Master Winwood casually wrote the music for "Dirty City" in less than a day... Not sure as to what he was going to do that day, he literally walks into the Studio, shuts the door... and comes out by the end of the day...voilà💥 "Dirty City"... Simply, another day at the office...

However, there is more to the Story of "Dirty City" than meets the eye... Big props go to Peter Godwin for clarifying the details of the NINE LIVES Legend... THANK YOU PETER...

It was in fact, a SCAT that emerged from various pre-gig soundchecks... We can trace this back to the many Interviews that were conducted with Master Winwood around 2008, where he pinpoints to several Jam-Sessions the band were having 'On the Road'🚦as the ORIGINS for the concept of the album - 9 mini chapters with their own individual stories... To Hark Back, Peter says, he literally wrote the lyrics for "Dirty City" after studying this specific SCAT that came out of these soundchecks...

Naturally, after receiving the lyrics on the one hand, and the SCAT on the other, Master Winwood puts it all together in less than a day. LEGENDARY...

As many of you will recognise, this is my very first "Dirty City" release... Obviously, there are many excellent LIVE VIDEO versions of the composition on-line... However, this one is rather special...

This is the ONLY KNOWN Studio recording of the WINWOOD VERSION... No CLAPTON found here... It is a fascinating listen to say the least... I have known many a fans yearning for a STUDIO - WINWOOD VERSION for years... Here, that is exactly what we are getting with the IMPERIAL STRATOCASTER STRIKING BACK... :)
