I first discovered Tish Hinojosa on an Austin City Limits show. Chris Hillman (of The Byrds) was the host, and he introduced and said her name, but her name never showed on the screen throughout the show. I heard what he said, but I didn't know how to spell it. Anyway, she started singing, and her angelic voice blew me away. The very next day I went to Tower Records and looked her up. First I looked under "I", then "J", then "E", then "Y". Finally I found her under "H". Remember, this was in the days before search engines existed; this was in 1992. Here is a video I made for her song "In The Real West", which she wrote, from her album "Culture Swing." Not only did she have that angelic voice, she is also a prolific songwriter (she wrote every song on "Culture Swing", no co-writers), and she has such a charming personality, a real sweetheart. And she's a cutie.
