Toots & the Maytals, originally called The Maytals is a Jamaican music group. It is one of the best known reggae, rocksteady and ska bands. The Maytals were formed in the early 1960s and were key figures in popularizing reggae. Singer Toots Hibbert was named one of the 100 Greatest Singers Ever by Rolling Stone. His 1968 single "Do the Reggay" was the first song and the first use of the word "reggae", naming the genre and introducing it to the world.
